AI audiobook

An audiobook from a book you already have

Most books never get an audio edition, and the ones that do rarely get one in your language. Any book you translate here can be narrated — the whole thing, or just the summary when you only want the gist.

The narration

Four voices, either language

Narration follows the text you chose — read it in the original, or in the translation, with a voice that suits the book.

  • Narrate the original language or the translation — the same book, either way
  • Chapter by chapter, so a long book downloads in pieces rather than one file
  • Narrate a summary instead of the whole book when you want the shape of it in six minutes
  • Listening position lives with your account, next to your reading position

Summary narration is included in every paid plan. A whole-book narration is bought separately.

Create an audiobook How book summaries work

Two kinds of listening

The whole book, or the gist

They serve different moments, and they are priced differently for the same reason.

Whole-book narration

Every chapter narrated end to end, exported as MP3 or M4B. Bought per book and priced by how long it runs, because a 20-hour novel is not the same job as a 2-hour one.

Summary narration

The book condensed to six, fifteen or forty-five minutes and then read aloud. Included in the plan — useful for deciding whether the full book is worth the hours.

Picks up where you stopped

Listening and reading share one position. Finish a chapter on headphones and the reader opens at the next paragraph, not back at the top.

What narration costs

  • Every paid plan includes summary narration — six, fifteen and forty-five minute listens, reset monthly.
  • A whole-book narration is the one thing bought separately, priced by the finished running time.
  • You buy a band, then choose which book to spend it on. The purchase does not expire.
  • Pro takes 20% off every band.
  • Audio exports as MP3 or M4B, chapter by chapter.

Whole audiobooks are bought one book at a time

No plan includes a full narration: a whole book runs for hours, so it is priced by how long it runs. Pick the book after you buy — a purchase does not expire.

Can I turn any ebook into an audiobook?

Any book you have in DualBook can be narrated — upload the EPUB, and narrate either the original text or the translation. The audio is generated from the same book the reader is showing you.

What do the voices sound like?

Four natural text-to-speech voices, chosen per run. There is a voice for the original language and one for the translation, so a bilingual book can be heard either way.

What file do I get?

MP3 or M4B, produced chapter by chapter rather than as one enormous file. M4B carries chapter marks, which is what most audiobook players expect.

How much does narrating a whole book cost?

It is priced by how long the finished audio runs: $2.99 up to two hours, $5.99 up to five, $9.99 up to ten, $16.99 up to twenty. Pro pays 20% less at every band. Narrating a summary is already included in a paid plan.

Can I listen to just a summary?

Yes, and it is often the better move. A summary listen runs six, fifteen or forty-five minutes depending on the depth you pick, and it is included in your plan — a cheap way to decide whether the full narration is worth buying. More on book summaries.
