EPUB → PDF
Lay a reflowable ebook out on fixed pages — your paper size, your margins, your type size — and save it as a PDF you can print or annotate.

EPUB and PDF answer opposite questions. An EPUB carries text that reflows to fit whatever screen it lands on, which is why the same book looks right on a phone and on a 13-inch reader. A PDF fixes every line in place on a page of a stated size, which is why it prints predictably and why annotation tools can point at a spot and expect it to stay there.
So converting EPUB to PDF is not a translation between two ways of storing the same thing. It is a decision: somebody has to choose the paper size, the type size and the margins, because the ebook never had them. On this page that somebody is you, and the three controls above are the whole decision.
The layout is done by your own browser's print engine rather than a JavaScript PDF library. That is a deliberate choice. Your browser is a real typesetter with justified text, hyphenation, orphan and widow control, and — the part that matters most — access to every font installed on your machine. A JavaScript writer has to embed a font file for every script it supports, which either bloats the download or silently drops characters. Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Greek, Cyrillic and Arabic all come out right this way.
Format by format
| What it does | EPUB | |
|---|---|---|
| Layout | Reflows to any screen | Fixed pages at a stated size |
| Type size | The reader chooses | You choose, once, at conversion |
| Best for | Reading on a phone, tablet or e-ink reader | Printing, annotating, archiving, submitting |
| Page numbers | None — there are no pages | Real and stable |
| File size | Smaller; text and images only | Larger; fonts are embedded too |
| Editing later | Structure is easy to re-flow | Hard — the layout is baked in |
What actually changes
An EPUB has no pages; it has text that flows. Making a PDF means choosing a paper size and a type size, and those choices are yours. The result will not look like the publisher's own PDF edition, because that was designed page by page and this is laid out from the ebook's markup.
What survives
What does not
How it works
Read on your machine, as always. Its title, author and chapter count appear straight away.
The book is laid out with justified text, hyphenation and proper orphan and widow control.
Your browser writes the PDF itself, with the fonts embedded correctly.
FAQ
Because it produces a better file. Your browser contains a real typesetting and PDF engine with access to every font installed on your machine. In the dialog, set the destination to “Save as PDF” rather than a printer, and the file is written to disk exactly as you would expect.
Yes — that is the main reason for this approach. JavaScript PDF writers must embed a font file for every script they support, which either bloats the page or drops characters silently. Your browser already has the fonts installed, so the text renders correctly whatever the writing system.
Yes: A4, US Letter, A5 and B5, each with your own margins and type size. A5 at 10pt with narrow margins is close to a mass-market paperback; A4 at 14pt with wide margins is a large-print edition.
Yes. Images stored inside the EPUB are rendered by the browser alongside the text and are embedded in the PDF it writes.
Both iOS and Android can save a printed page as a PDF from the share or print sheet. The layout step is identical; only the final save differs, and your phone will offer “Save to Files” or a similar destination.
Because the publisher's PDF was designed page by page by a typesetter, and this is generated from the ebook's markup. The words are the same and the reading is comfortable, but line breaks, page breaks and any decorative page furniture will differ.
Only if it is DRM-free. A book locked to a store account cannot be opened by this tool, and removing DRM is not something we support. Books from Project Gutenberg, Standard Ebooks, most indie publishers and your own manuscripts all work.
A bilingual EPUB puts the original and the translation side by side, paragraph by paragraph — and you can still export a PDF afterwards.
