Translate an English book into Hindi

Upload an English EPUB and get the first fifteen pages back in Hindi. A Hindi verb agrees with the gender of whoever is speaking — so "I went" is two different sentences, and English does not tell you which one you need.

The first 15 pages of text are sent to our server to be translated. The file itself stays on your device.

This is the decision a paragraph cannot answer and a book can. मैं गया and मैं गई are both "I went"; the difference is the speaker. In a first-person novel that choice is made once and governs hundreds of sentences. Make it per paragraph and the narrator changes gender every few pages, which is not a subtle error.

Alongside it sits the address system: तू, तुम and आप mark three different relationships, and choosing among them is not politeness but a description of who these people are to each other. English "you" contains none of that.

So the model reads the whole book first and writes a guide — the cast, their genders, their relationships, names and recurring terms — and the sample is translated against it rather than against the paragraph before.

How it works

  1. Choose your English EPUB

A DRM-free EPUB. The file stays on your device; only the text of the sample is sent.

  2. The model reads the whole book

The cast and their genders are mapped once, which is what keeps verb agreement stable across the sample.

  3. The first 15 pages come back in Hindi

About 4,500 words, translated as continuous prose so the verb-final rhythm reads as Hindi rather than as English rearranged.

  4. Download, or read it here

A complete EPUB. Devanagari conjuncts render correctly in modern readers, and the file keeps its own styling.

What this free tool does not do

Gender is inferred. English never marked it. Reading the whole book makes the inference consistent and usually right; it cannot make it authoritative, and an unnamed narrator is the hard case.

No Sanskritised register on request. The Hindi written here is the ordinary literary register, not the heavily Sanskritised official one.

Fifteen pages, not the book — about 4,500 words — and the text is sent to a server and discarded when the job ends.

Questions

How does it decide the gender of the verbs?

From the cast mapped across the whole book before anything is translated. This is the clearest case of why the free tool reads the entire text: a single English sentence contains no gender at all, and a per-paragraph translator flips the narrator's gender at random.

How is तू vs तुम vs आप decided?

From the relationships in the book, fixed once and held. Getting this wrong does not read as impoliteness — it reads as a different relationship, which is a plot error rather than a style one.

Will Devanagari render properly?

Yes, in any modern reader. Conjunct consonants and matras are ordinary Unicode text; the file does not substitute fonts, so the book's own stylesheet is what decides how it looks.

How much is free?

About 4,500 words, roughly fifteen pages, five books a day per person.
