AZW3 → READ
Open a KF8 file in your browser with real pages and the book's own table of contents. No Kindle, no Calibre, nothing installed.
Drop your AZW3
or click to choose — the only ceiling is your own memory, none on our side
AZW3 carries KF8, the format Amazon built on top of EPUB in 2011. That lineage is why this works so well: unwrap the Palm database container and what is inside is markup with real CSS, proper headings and the styling the publisher actually supplied.
So the file is unpacked in your browser, repackaged as EPUB in memory, and opened with the same reading engine the DualBook app itself uses. You get paginated text rather than a scrolling column, the book's own navigation, and its images and type as they were meant to look.
Nothing is uploaded and nothing is kept. That means no reading position either — the trade for a reader that asks you for nothing, not even an email address.
Format by format
| What it does | AZW3 | READ |
|---|---|---|
| Installation | Kindle app or Calibre | Nothing — it is a web page |
| Your file | Imported into a library | Never leaves the browser |
| Fidelity | Full | Full — KF8 is EPUB underneath |
| Table of contents | Yes | Yes, from the book's own navigation |
| Reading position | Remembered | Forgotten when the tab closes |
| DRM files | Only in Amazon's own app | Cannot be opened at all |
What actually changes
There is no separate KF8 reader here. The file is converted to EPUB in memory and opened with the engine every other book on this site uses. Because KF8 was derived from EPUB, that conversion loses very little — the only hard stop is DRM.

How it works
Detected automatically, including inside combo files that carry both MOBI and KF8.
Each section is decompressed and rebuilt as EPUB in memory — nothing is written to disk.
Turn pages with the arrows or the arrow keys; the AZW3 to EPUB tool will hand you the file itself.
FAQ
No. Everything runs in your browser and nothing talks to Amazon. Any DRM-free .azw3 opens, whoever produced it.
No. Purchased books are locked to your account, and removing that lock is not something we support. Your own files, Project Gutenberg, Standard Ebooks and most indie publishers all open normally.
Very. KF8 was built from EPUB, so unwrapping it recovers markup close to what the publisher supplied — headings, emphasis, lists and most styling survive intact.
It is the same reading engine, epub.js, at the same version. Pagination, navigation and type sizing behave identically. The app adds what needs an account: sync, bookmarks, highlights and translation.
Yes — the AZW3 to EPUB tool does the same conversion and gives you the file. This page opens the result instead of handing it over.
Yes. The whole thing runs on the phone and a typical novel opens in a few seconds. Large illustrated books are where memory becomes the limit.
DualBook translates a whole book and puts the translation beside the original in this same reader.
