Translate a Turkish book into German

Upload a Turkish EPUB and get the first fifteen pages back in German. Turkish has one pronoun for he, she and it — German has three genders and will not let you avoid choosing.

The first 15 pages of text are sent to our server to be translated. The file itself stays on your device.

o is a person, and which person and of what gender is something a Turkish reader tracks from the names and the scene. German cannot decline to say it: every pronoun carries a gender, and every noun carries one too. A wrong assignment produces a sentence that reads perfectly while telling the reader something false.

That cannot be solved inside a paragraph. The model reads the whole book first and maps the cast — who is who, of what gender, in which scene — before translating a word.

The second piece of work is unpacking. A Turkish word carrying five suffixes is a clause with the spaces removed, and German has to spread it back out into a subordinate clause — with its verb at the end, which at least means the two languages agree about where a verb belongs.

How it works

  1. Choose your Turkish EPUB

A DRM-free EPUB. The file stays on your device; only the text of the sample is sent.

  2. The model reads the whole book

The cast is mapped first — who is who, and of what gender — which is what lets German pronouns be assigned correctly.

  3. The first 15 pages come back in German

About 4,500 words as a complete EPUB, with agglutinated words unpacked into German clauses.

Honest limits

Pronoun gender is inferred. Turkish did not state it. Reading the whole book makes the inference informed rather than certain, and a minor character who is never named can be assigned wrongly.

The reported past has no German tense. Turkish can mark that the speaker did not witness an event; German needs an adverb or a change of voice.

Fifteen pages, not the book. About 4,500 words.

The text is sent to a server and discarded when the job finishes.

Questions

How does it decide between er, sie and es?

From the cast mapped across the whole book — names, relationships, who is in which scene. It is the strongest single argument for reading the entire text first, because a Turkish sentence frequently gives no clue at all.

What happens to the reported past?

It becomes German words or German voice: an adverb of hearsay, or a framing that makes it clear the narrator is reporting rather than witnessing. What matters is that the same solution is used throughout rather than the narrator's footing shifting.

How are long Turkish words handled?

They are unpacked into clauses, because that is what they are — a Turkish word with five suffixes is a sentence without spaces, and reading it as a word rather than a clause produces glossary entries instead of German.

How much is free?

About 4,500 words, roughly fifteen pages, five books a day.
