Translate an Italian book into Spanish

Upload an Italian EPUB and get the first fifteen pages back in Spanish. Almost everything Italian does with the ends of its words, Spanish can do too — which makes this one of the kinder pairs here.

The first 15 pages of text are sent to our server to be translated. The file itself stays on your device.

An Italian -ino or -accio is doing work that English would need an adjective for. Spanish has the same machinery: -ito, -illo, -azo. So the affection, the scorn and the scale survive as suffixes rather than being unpacked into extra words, and the sentence keeps its shape.

Formality transfers just as directly — Lei to usted, without any of the inference that translating from English requires.

What still has to be decided is which Spanish. Peninsular and Latin American varieties disagree about vosotros, about everyday nouns and about narrative tone, and one book has to commit. That, along with the names, the recurring terms and the false friends, is settled from the whole text before any translating starts.

How it works

  1. Choose your Italian EPUB

A DRM-free EPUB. The file stays on your device; only the text of the sample is sent.

  2. The model reads the whole book

The variety of Spanish, the register and the names are settled once, from the complete text.

  3. The first 15 pages come back in Spanish

About 4,500 words as a complete EPUB, with the Italian suffix system carried into Spanish suffixes rather than unpacked.

Honest limits

No variety picker. The tool will not let you demand Peninsular or Rioplatense Spanish; it does guarantee the sample does not switch.

Dialect passages approximate. Italian written in heavy regional dialect is a different language in practice, and the Spanish there will be serviceable rather than exact.

Fifteen pages, not the book. About 4,500 words.

The text is sent to a server and discarded when the job finishes.

Questions

Do Italian suffixes survive into Spanish?

Yes — one of the real advantages of this pair. Spanish has its own diminutives and augmentatives, so an Italian suffix becomes a Spanish suffix and keeps its tone rather than being turned into an extra adjective.

Does Lei become usted?

Yes, directly, because the Italian already states the relationship. Reading the whole book first is what keeps the choice consistent rather than drifting between chapters.

What about dialect passages?

Standard Italian with regional colouring reads fine. Passages in heavy Neapolitan, Sicilian or Milanese are effectively another language, and the result there is approximate — the page says so rather than pretending otherwise.

How much is free?

About 4,500 words, roughly fifteen pages, five books a day.

Translate the whole book

The app runs the same engine across the entire book and can show the Spanish next to the Italian, with your position synced between devices.
