Each Spanish paragraph with its Italian translation directly beneath it, in one EPUB. Close enough that you will read both; different enough that reading both is worth doing.
The first 15 pages of text are sent to our server to be translated. The file itself stays on your device.
Spanish and Italian sit close enough that a reader of one gets most of a page in the other, and that changes what the parallel form is for. You are not being rescued from incomprehension; you are being shown, sentence after sentence, the small places where your intuition was wrong — the cognate that shifted meaning, the preposition that does not correspond, the tense used where yours would use another.
The suffixes are worth watching too. Both languages load meaning onto the ends of nouns, and seeing a Spanish diminutive answered by an Italian one teaches the correspondence faster than any list.
Your browser opens the EPUB, walks each paragraph and inserts the Italian beneath it inside the original file, rewriting only the chapter documents that received a translation.
A DRM-free EPUB. The bilingual file is assembled in your browser, not on a server.
Names, terms and the formal/familiar map are fixed once, so the Italian keeps its footing across chapters.
Each translation is styled beneath its paragraph, distinguishable at a glance even though the two languages look similar.
A complete EPUB carrying the book's own fonts and stylesheets.
Skimming defeats the purpose. With close languages the temptation is to read whichever paragraph is easier and move on. Read the Spanish, decide what it says, then check.
Fifteen pages get translations. The rest of the book stays in Spanish inside the same file.
The text is sent to a server and discarded when the job ends. The file never leaves your device.
Stacked, not side-by-side. Facing columns cannot hold alignment in a reflowing format.
Spanish first, and check rather than glance — the checking is where the value sits in a pair this close.
Yes, for the same reason. When comprehension is not the problem, precision is: the false friends and divergent constructions that you would otherwise keep getting slightly wrong without ever being told.
Yes. Kindle has accepted EPUB directly since 2022; email the file to your device or copy it across.
