Translate an English book into Chinese

Upload an English EPUB and get the first fifteen pages back in Chinese. The decision that shapes everything is how names are rendered — and it has to be made once, for the whole book.

The first 15 pages of text are sent to our server to be translated. The file itself stays on your device.

English names are the first fork in the road. Elizabeth can become 伊丽莎白 or stay in Latin script, and either choice is defensible — but a book that does both, or that transliterates the same name two different ways, reads as careless. The choice has to be made once and held.

That is what reading the whole book buys. Every name, place and recurring term is recorded before translation starts, each with the single rendering used throughout.

The other thing separating good Chinese translation from mechanical Chinese translation is sentence length. English tolerates long subordinate chains; Chinese prefers to break them into shorter clauses. Translating the passage as one continuous narrative, rather than sentence by sentence, is what lets those chains be re-cut where Chinese wants them cut instead of transplanted whole.

How it works

  1. Choose your English EPUB

A DRM-free EPUB. The file stays on your device; only the text is sent.

  2. The model reads the whole book

Names, places and recurring terms are fixed once, with a single rendering each.

  3. The first 15 pages come back in Chinese

About 4,500 words, translated as continuous prose so English clause chains can be re-cut for Chinese.

  4. Download, or read it here

A complete EPUB. Chinese needs CJK glyphs, and the file keeps its own fonts and stylesheets.

What this free tool does not do

Fifteen pages, not the book. The rest stays in English in the same file.

Simplified by default. For Traditional, use the target-language selector on the generic translate page.

Font fallback is the reader's, not ours. We keep the book's stylesheets; if the original declared no CJK font, your reading app supplies one — essentially all of them do.

The text is sent to a server and discarded when the job finishes.

Questions

Are names transliterated or left in Latin script?

The model reads the whole book, decides one approach per name, and applies it throughout. Either approach is acceptable; inconsistency is what is not.

Simplified or Traditional?

Simplified by default. If you need Traditional, pick it in the target-language selector on the generic translate tool.

Will Chinese characters display correctly in the output?

Yes. Only the text is replaced; the book's own fonts and stylesheets are untouched, and reading apps ship CJK fonts anyway.

How much is free?

About 4,500 words — roughly fifteen pages. Measured in words, so book length does not change the deal. Five books a day.

Translate the whole book

The app translates the entire book with the same engine, shows Chinese beside English, and keeps your place across devices.
