Translate an Arabic book into French

Upload an Arabic EPUB and get the first fifteen pages back in French. Arabic prose joins clauses where French would stop, so the first decision on every page is where a sentence ends.

The first 15 pages of text are sent to our server to be translated. The file itself stays on your device.

Arabic narration links clause to clause with a conjunction, and a paragraph can run half a page without a full stop. French will not carry that. A translation has to decide, repeatedly, where sentences break — and a translator that decides inconsistently produces prose that alternates between breathless and clipped for reasons the reader cannot see.

Names are the second constant. Arabic names carry structure: the article fused to the name, ibn and bint linking generations, a kunya naming a person as the parent of their child. French has a long-established set of conventions for romanising them, and the only thing that matters over a whole book is that one person is spelled one way.

Reading the whole book first produces that consistency, along with the register, the recurring terms and the narrative voice.

How it works

  1. Choose your Arabic EPUB

A DRM-free EPUB. The file stays on your device; only the text of the sample is sent.

  2. The model reads the whole book

Names, kunyas and recurring terms are collected first, so one person keeps one French spelling.

  3. The first 15 pages come back in French

About 4,500 words as a complete EPUB, set left-to-right and punctuated with guillemets as a French edition would be.

Honest limits

Dialect is harder than Modern Standard. Narration in MSA translates reliably; dialogue written in Maghrebi, Egyptian or Levantine dialect is a different language in practice and the result there is more approximate.

Sound does not cross. Arabic prose draws on root patterns and assonance that are structural rather than decorative, and no translation carries that.

Fifteen pages, not the book. About 4,500 words.

The text is sent to a server and discarded when the job finishes.

Questions

Will names be romanised consistently?

Yes — a direct consequence of reading the whole book before translating anything. Names, including kunyas and ibn/bint chains, are recorded once, so the same person is not spelled two ways across a chapter break.

Does it handle Maghrebi dialect?

Narration in Modern Standard Arabic, yes, reliably. Dialogue in heavy dialect is effectively another language and the translation is more approximate there — the page says so rather than pretending otherwise.

Is the French punctuated the French way?

Yes: guillemets and dialogue dashes, with a non-breaking space before the doubled punctuation marks, and the text set left-to-right as a French book should be.

How much is free?

About 4,500 words, roughly fifteen pages, five books a day.

The app runs the same engine across the entire book and can show the French next to the Arabic, with your position synced between devices.
