Each Chinese paragraph with its Vietnamese translation directly beneath it, in one EPUB. Read the Chinese first; the Vietnamese is there for the sentence that will not resolve.
The first 15 pages of text are sent to our server to be translated. The file itself stays on your device.
This is the pair where a parallel text teaches fastest, because the two languages already share a vocabulary. Once you see that a particular character keeps corresponding to a particular Vietnamese syllable — and it does, regularly, across hundreds of words — you stop learning words and start learning the correspondence. A dictionary gives you one entry at a time; a parallel text gives you the pattern.
It also shows you where the pattern breaks. Some Sino-Vietnamese words froze with the meaning they had centuries ago while the Chinese moved on, and those are exactly the ones that catch a confident reader. Seeing the translation underneath is how you notice.
Your browser opens the EPUB, walks each paragraph and inserts the Vietnamese beneath it inside the original file, rewriting only the chapter documents that received a translation, so cover, navigation and metadata survive untouched.
A DRM-free EPUB. The bilingual file is assembled in your browser, not on a server.
The cast and their relative ages are mapped once, so the Vietnamese pronouns hold steady from chapter to chapter.
Each translation is styled beneath its paragraph, easy to tell apart at a glance.
A complete EPUB carrying the book's own fonts and stylesheets, so CJK text displays as the book intended.
Your eye will go to the Vietnamese. Read the Chinese paragraph first, every time — and with this pair there is a second trap: the vocabulary is familiar enough that you will think you understood a sentence you actually guessed at. The translation underneath is how you check.
Fifteen pages get translations. The rest of the book stays in Chinese inside the same file.
The text is sent to a server and discarded when the job ends. The file never leaves your device.
Chinese first, every paragraph — then check. The shared vocabulary makes it unusually easy to feel you understood a sentence you only half-recognised.
Because the two languages share a large, systematic layer of vocabulary. Reading them stacked reveals the sound correspondences between Chinese characters and Sino-Vietnamese syllables, and those repeat — so vocabulary comes in blocks rather than one word at a time.
Yes, both simplified and traditional. The script does not change how the text is read or how the file is rebuilt.
Yes. Kindle has accepted EPUB directly since 2022 and renders both Chinese and Vietnamese; email the file to your device or copy it across.
