Upload a Polish EPUB and get the first fifteen pages back in German. Polish can put any word first for emphasis; German's word order is not free, so the emphasis has to go somewhere else.
The first 15 pages of text are sent to our server to be translated. The file itself stays on your device.
Because Polish marks who did what with endings, it can reorder a sentence almost at will, and where a word sits is itself a piece of information — what the sentence is about, what is being contrasted, what the narrator wants you to notice. German cannot follow. Its verb is pinned to a position, and moving things around quickly produces sentences that are ungrammatical rather than emphatic.
So the emphasis has to be rebuilt with other means: a particle, a cleft, a shift of stress onto a different construction. Done inconsistently it simply disappears, and the German reads flatter than the Polish for no reason a reader could name.
Reading the whole book first sets the register and the cast once, which is what lets those choices be made the same way throughout rather than scene by scene.
A DRM-free EPUB. The file stays on your device; only the text of the sample is sent.
Names, their case forms and their diminutives are mapped to one person each before anything is translated.
About 4,500 words as a complete EPUB, rebuilt as German sentences with the verbs where German requires them.
Emphasis is rebuilt, not preserved. German word order will not carry what Polish word order carries, so it becomes particles and constructions — an approximation, consistently applied.
Articles are supplied. Polish has none, so definiteness is read from context rather than from the source.
Diminutives lose their edge. Polish expresses affection or scorn in a suffix; German mostly needs a word.
Fifteen pages, not the book, and the text is sent to a server and discarded when the job ends.
The information it carried — emphasis, contrast, what the sentence is about — is rebuilt using the means German has, because German word order is constrained by the position of the verb and cannot simply mirror the Polish.
From context: what has already been introduced, what the narrator assumes known, whether the noun is generic. Polish supplies no signal, so this is decided from the whole book rather than the sentence.
Yes. Case forms and diminutives are recorded as belonging to one person before translating starts, so a chapter does not appear to introduce a stranger.
About 4,500 words, roughly fifteen pages, five books a day.
