Each English paragraph with its Portuguese translation directly beneath it, in one EPUB. The English stays in front of you; the Portuguese is there for the sentence that stops you.
The first 15 pages of text are sent to our server to be translated. The file itself stays on your device.
Portuguese speakers usually read English better than they speak it, which produces a very specific frustration: you get through most of a page comfortably and then one clause simply will not resolve. Because the rest was easy, you cannot tell which word did it. Looking up three of them costs a minute and the paragraph. A translation sitting underneath costs a glance.
Your browser opens the EPUB, finds every paragraph and inserts the Portuguese beneath it as a sibling paragraph inside the original file. Only the chapter documents that actually receive a translation are rewritten, so cover, navigation, stylesheet and metadata survive as they were.
Stacked rather than facing columns. EPUB text reflows to the reader's screen and font size, so true columns cannot hold alignment — and with Portuguese running about a fifth longer than the English, paired columns would be out of step within a page.
A DRM-free EPUB. The bilingual file is assembled in your browser, not on a server.
The variety, the names and the forms of address are fixed once, so the Portuguese does not change dialect between chapters.
Each translation is styled beneath its paragraph, easy to tell apart without being intrusive.
A complete EPUB carrying the book's own fonts and stylesheets.
Your eye will go to the Portuguese. Read the English paragraph first, every time. The seconds of not understanding are the practice; skipping them means finishing a whole book having learned very little.
Fifteen pages get translations. The rest of the book stays in English inside the same file.
The text is sent to a server and discarded when the job ends. The file never leaves your device.
Stacked, not side-by-side. Facing columns fight EPUB reflow and go out of step as soon as the Portuguese runs longer.
English first, every paragraph. Sit with the confusion for a moment before you look down — that moment is where the reading practice actually happens.
Whichever the book's register points to; there is no picker. What is guaranteed is that it stays the same all the way through the sample rather than mixing Brazilian and European forms from one paragraph to the next.
Yes. Kindle has accepted EPUB directly since 2022; email it to your device or copy it across.
Yes. The browser rebuilds the archive entry by entry and only rewrites the chapter files that received a translation, so everything else passes through untouched.
